It’s a frequent tear film alteration that can be  both  qualitative and quantitative.
Symptoms are red eye, itching, pain, sensation of a foreign body, blurred vision and tearing.
Hormonal changes, systemic drugs, environmental conditions, ocular surgery, use of contact lenses  can affect  lacrimal gland function.
Bad tears leads to an inflammation that causes a worsening of tear production maintening a vicious circle.
The use of specifical lacrimal substitutes consents symptom reduction.
